With no other options, Liz moved to a homeless shelter, where she was forced to navigate the complexities of the social services system while trying to maintain her academic momentum. Despite the difficulties she faced, Liz remained focused on her goals, and with the help of a supportive teacher, she began to see a way out of her desperate situation.

Today, Liz is a successful author, speaker, and advocate for social justice. Her memoir, “Breaking Night: A Memoir of Forgiveness, Survival, and My Journey from Homeless to Harvard,” has become a bestseller, and she continues to inspire audiences with her message of hope and resilience.

Liz’s hard work and determination eventually paid off when she was accepted into the City College of New York (CCNY). However, her journey was far from over.
